Here is an excerpt from his email:
"We have already taught our investigator, Camila three times.
We taught last Friday, and it was a mess. Basically a complete failure. She'd
ask us questions and we had no idea how to respond! We tried to teach her to
pray, but we had to repair our mistakes in our next lesson. We asked her if she
would pray with us but she declined. The next lesson (Saturday), we went
in with NO notes, just our Spanish scriptures and a pamphlet on the
restoration. It was infinitely greater. We taught her how to pray and coaxed
her into praying with us after we gave an example prayer. The first time I
prayed in Spanish the spirit overwhelmed me. We taught her again on Monday and
talked about the restoration. As I read her Joseph Smith's account of the First
Vision, the spirit was so strong, and then I testified that I knew it was true.
We gave her a Book of Mormon and read the last two paragraphs of the
introduction (which are awesome). We assigned her to read the first chapter of
Enos. And then she asked if it was okay to read more! Very exciting... She has
been so attentive since the second visit. And our teacher, Hermano Scheide says
that she told him we have improved dramatically and it has improved her whole
week taking lessons with us.
The spirit is so strong here every day as we learn the
language with the help of the Savior, as we learn how to teach, and as we
testify of the truths that we know."
Elder Garrett requested that I ask, as his mother, to have everyone write to him. If you go to dearelder.com, except on Saturdays and Sundays, he will get those letters the same day at dinner, and it is free! I haven't done it yet, but it looks like there are some good instructions.
Until next week.... ¡Adios!
